Ashtanga Yoga is a system of practice based on a specific series of postures (asanas) that are linked by a fluid, conscious breath (vinyasa). Each sequence begins with sun salutations, progresses through standing and seated postures, and finishes with restoratives. Regular practice results in greater strength and flexibility, as well as improved circulation and clarity of mind.
Mysore is the traditional method for learning Ashtanga Yoga as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. Students progress through the series at their own pace to the rhythm of their own breath with individual guidance. Postures are taught one at a time based on the student’s ability and commitment. This method of teaching fosters support, as well as independence in the process of developing a personal yoga practice and is ideal for ALL LEVELS of practitioner. Please feel free to come and observe a Mysore class anytime during regularly scheduled hours.
Ashtanga Basics is the place to learn the sequence of postures and and continue refining the breath.
In Guided Ashtanga classes the instructor calls out the postures and the group moves and breathes together in sync. These are focused, energetic classes effective in establishing the traditional pacing of one breath for each movement. Recommended for those already familiar with Ashtanga.
Guided classes differ only in that the sequence of postures may be improvised from class to class.
Intro courses teach students the fundamentals of Ashtanga Yoga – breath, alignment, and movement – in a way to make this method easily accessible to people of all levels and abilities. This is a perfect place for anyone beginning yoga or those wanting to reconnect with their yoga practice. Courses begin on specific dates and last three weeks (see Schedule). Space is limited; pre-registration is required.
Privates are ideal for meeting specific needs or goals and for those students who are interested in beginning or deepening their practice with one-on-one guidance. Private instruction is useful:
- for those who want to try yoga for the first time
- for those who prefer not to practice in a group setting
- for those who have an injury or physical limitation
- for those who are more easily distracted
- for students who want a deeper immersion and individual attention
- for students who want to focus on or refine a particular aspect of practice
Private Instruction Sessions can be scheduled at your convenience for 30, 60, or 90 minutes.
bodywork
structural integration I craniosacral I rates
Structural Integration (also know as RolfingTM) is soft tissue manipulation and movement education that addresses how the human structure relates to gravity. The intention is to unwind strain and patterns of holding to restore optimal alignment, natural function, and comfort. Through deep touch, and with the client’s participation, the fascia is lengthened and repositioned to create spaciousness and balance in the muscles, joint system, and entire body. The method is traditionally comprised of ten sessions, each focusing on a specific part and movement function of the body.
CranioSacral Therapy is a subtle approach to the body employing gentle, noninvasive touch to the spine, skull, and diaphragms. By tuning into and supporting the natural rhythm of one’s system, it brings the central nervous system into harmony to unwind tension, remove restrictions, and allow change. The results are increased natural energy and enhanced healing capabilities, as well as an overall feeling of wellness.
Structural Integration Session $80.00
CranioSacral Session $50.00
meditation
method I current schedule I rates
Meditation is the practice of relaxing and paying attention while being with all of the thoughts, feelings, sensations, and ambient sounds that arise. It is an obvious and important compliment to the practice of yoga postures allowing for a deepening of both practices and for spontaneous insight to occur.
In its essence meditation improves all aspects of one’s practice and life, but unearthing the treasure requires dedication.
There are many traditions and methods taught; all are welcome from beginners to those with an established practice. If you would like guidance you may arrange to speak with someone prior to coming.
PLEASE CONTACT studio 72 BEFORE YOUR FIRST VISIT TO ENSURE THAT SOMEONE WILL BE THERE DURING THESE HOURS.
Mondays 4:30-5:15pm
Wednesdays 4:30-5:15pm
Saturdays 8-8:45am
See Schedule for other class offerings at studio 72.
There is no charge for meditation practice; all classes are offered by donation or dana, which is the practice of giving freely as one is able or moved to do so.

Jennifer Morrison has been a student of yoga since 1993 and was introduced to Ashtanga Yoga in 1996, which she has been practicing ever since. She is committed to its path as a way to cultivate
presence and equilibrium – on the mat and in daily life.
During Jennifer’s 10 years of teaching, yoga has flourished, and classes can number up to 50 students, or more. While the far-reaching aspect of yoga is wonderful, the method of one-to-one teaching has significantly diminished. Opening studio 72 is a response to the mass yoga phenomenon where students
can expect small classes and receive individualized attention and support.
“One of the great joys of teaching is meeting students right where they are – in their bodies, their lives in general, or on a given day – and supporting their practice as a means of cultivating health, balance, and
essentially, peace.”
Jennifer is also certified in Structural Integration (The Rolf Method), which lends its wisdom of how the body moves within the field of gravity to her knowledge. With clarity and compassion, Jennifer teaches
to share the Ashtanga tradition and the infinite gifts of yoga.

Sharon McGauley has been practicing yoga for 11 years and has been dedicated to Ashtanga since 2007 when she began studying with Nancy Gilgoff and Casie Tavares in Maui. Nancy was one of the first Westerners to learn the method of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga from Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India and
to bring that tradition to the U.S.
Looking for yoga that was both spiritually and physically inspiring, Sharon found it in Ashtanga and has been grateful for its grounding and energizing effects on her life every time she steps onto her mat. It appeals to her as a vigorous method, a traditional system, and as a set series conducive to home practice. It also presents an opportunity for unending growth, both in the individual poses and in the daily
challenge of stilling the mind and being present.
After her first class at Nancy’s studio, Sharon knew she wanted to commit to Ashtanga and eventually teach. In addition to her continued studies with Nancy and Casie on extended trips to Maui, she completed a 200-hour Ashtanga intensive teacher training program with David Garrigues in Seattle in 2008 and took Nancy’s primary series adjustment clinic in 2009. Sharon teaches in the traditional, hands-on style that Nancy inherited from her close connection with Pattabhi Jois and strongly believes that, regardless of physical or mental condition, Ashtanga is a healing and strengthening practice for everyone.
